    Knowing Someone Bothers

Thanks to 'Art', I'm updating my blog =]
It's good to know that someone actually take time to read what I have to write. I hope to use my blog to update people and, of course, inspire them in some ways.
So, thank you again to those who bothers to read my post!

    Anyway, on to my update!!

Yesterday, April 13, 2009, marks the ending of my 3rd university year!!!
CAN YOU BELIEVE IT? I'll be a final year student when I get back to school!
I think time flies really really fast! I'm excited!

Reflecting back on this past semester, I think I've been through a lot of tough times and, of course, good times.

There are events that make me realize, I need to thank God for....

    1. Express Vol 1 & 2 -- the student initiated performance that brought exposure to us as an ensemble. I was the Deputy Project Manager for the event and the publicty officer! Thank God for the MacBook that I got from Dad for Christmas! I put it to full use as I designed the poster and program book for the event. I didn't know I have that 'designer' talent hidden there. Although it's not WOW yet (I felt), but it's a start right?

    2. NTU-NIE Staff Enrichment talk -- I got a call from one of the Dean's secretary saying that I am selected to be one of the student panelist for this talk. I was amazed because here I thought I was a nobody in the huge institution like NIE. Yet, they picked me. What's so special about me that they selected me? I have no answer, but my good guess says it's God's favor and open door for opportunities to help people. I didn't waste my time. It's time for me to voice out what I think can be improved in education system. I had it, in a delicate manner, of course =]

    3. SHAKESPEARE!!!!!!!!!!!! -- That says it all... Julius Caesar and King Lear to Hamlet and Macbeth then ending with The Tempest. Whoaaa! It's the first time I had Shakespeare bombarding me from all different directions! I have to say though, it's my first time enjoying Shakespeare... Julius Caesar was the first Shakespeare performance I have ever seen being staged like original Shakespearean style (Thanks to Jane and the LaSalle students). King Lear was being staged in Kathakali for my eyes to see for the first time! I LOVE IT! Important note too: we need to direct a performance based on King Lear for the directing module I took (AAU 302). I tried to keep it as simple and original as possible. I used actors, frame & screen and shadow to convey the meaning. I'm pleased and satisfied. Macbeth and Hamlet are both read in Tom Stoppard's plays, which we did in Dramaturgy module (AAU 336). The Tempest was the first tutor performance I have ever seen. Dr Jane Gilmer kindly put this up for us to see. She's truly a Shakespearean performer. The articulation and body language are so precise and breath-taking. Simply marvelous. I see Shakespeare in a different light now. I think I'm lovin' it.

    4. Most importantly, this semester marks the ending of my classes with three beloved classmates-- John, Mandy and Will. We've spent the past 2 years together as classmates. We met almost everyday, and spent at least 3 hours in class together. It also excludes the time we had rehearsing whenever there are performances. It excludes the time where we come together to catch a performance elsewhere. It excludes the time where we have lunch and dinner together. It excludes the time where we just sit and chat over msn or sms.

The past weeks marked our last rehearsals and performances together as a student. It marked our last late nights in the Nanyang Playhouse. It marked the last msn-ing each other during tutorials. It marked the last discussion or 'chit-chat' session in the wardrobe. It marked our last putting on make-up together in the dressing room. It marked our last trip to Dover MRT in John's car. It marked our last meal at NTU canteen at night. It marked our last sleepover at Nanyang Playhouse due to performances.

I'm convinced that nothing can replace the time we had together as a group of friends - brothers and sisters. I'm proud to be called an ensemble with them. We're tight, close knitted ensemble. We're that one team that people should envy. I love every single moment spent with them because we have been through a lot! Supporting each other through the good and bad times.. the happy and the sad times.. the noisy and the silent times. My gratitude to them for being so open to the craziness we've been through. They're my older brothers and sister (hehe), but I totally love them because they're them. We know each other so well that we can guess what type of performance each of us is going to put up. I hope, though, their graduation wouldn't mark the ending of our meet-ups and friendship -- and siblinghood. Every moment will be cherished forever. Nothing can replace them as the greatest ensemble of all time!!

Now, I shall sign out to plan for their graduation party tomorrow =]
