    Practicum Fever

I'm like bored now in my practicum school. I'm having my glorious 1 hour break! Haha.. It's PM now, I do feel like sleeping. However, I'm contemplating on the pros and cons of having been posted in the PM session. This is what I come up with:

    Pros:
    - sleep late the night before
    - wake up late
    - have time to play in the morning
    - buses not crowded
    - reach school in time for lunch (haha)

    Cons:
    - go home late
    - felt like the whole day is wasted
    - afternoon monster attack (zzzz)
    - can't go out with friends who are done in the afternoon
    - always late for bus (the waiting time is horrible ok!)

These are just my thoughts. I don't know if anyone got any other pros and cons to add to be teaching in the PM session.

Actually, the whole teaching thing is really tiring. We're in school for like 5 days a week. Our signing out time depends on the workload we have. This time of practicum, I don't need to be staying up in school to do markings or whatever. I'm plainly OBSERVING. But, imagine next year when I have to actually create my own lesson plan AND mark papers AND be my students' babysitter?!?!??! I can't imagine.......................................... [mind blocked]

This time round the practicum is NOT that bad. Knowing that I'll be around in the school for 5 weeks is a good thing because people actually pays attention to you. I remember last year when I had my 1 week school experience. HAHA.. I feel like I'm my CT's ghost. Just following her around not knowing what to do. Wait, not DOING anything is more like it. I hate the reflections part though. Up to know, I hate it. Ok, for the first 2 weeks of reflection I'm very much into it. It's a lot of stuff to reflect on. After that, when it comes to the 3rd week, I got bored of it. 4th week? Anyhow do. 5th week -- yet to be determined =p

I'm sort of having fun though. Kudos to my CTs especially. Mr Cher and Mdm Diana. They've been SUPER great in helping me go through this 5 weeks of observation. I actually learn A LOT from observing their class. They're soooo professional and soooo inspiring. I'm really thankful I can be posted under them knowing that they're my impromptu CTs =p

(Oh, my presence in MAyflower Primary School was not expected because they lost my paperwork somewhere during the admin. Thus, everything about me in the school is impromptu. That's why I really appreciate the Principal, my SCM, and my CTs for really taking me in and making me feel accepted. I'm so blessed!]

My SCM, Mdm Lau, was AMAZING! She's like this super busy woman, but yet she still helped us trainees to get to the right classes and observed the right teachers. She's a superwoman, that's all I can say!

I would like to clarify that my Supervisor is NOT evil after all. I said in my previous blog that my supervisor is COLD because of his answer to my phonecall from Indonesia. I met him 2 days after I got back from Indonesia. He's a really nice man. Very passionate and really interesting. I arrived at his office to find that he's listening to worship songs and reading the Bible. Haha.. What do you know... Oh, the one that caught my eye most is the drawing he had on his bulletin board. SO CUTE! It's from his kid. It says "Daddy, happy birthday Daddy. I love you, Daddy." I was like AAAWWWWWW in my heart when I was supposed to be listening to his talking =p
Clarification -- he's REALLY nice! Very friendly too! Glad I know the real him instead of telephone! Sometimes electronics can be FRUSTRATING!

The best part today was the CANTEEN experience. I've been in the school for 4 weeks now. I'm in my last week! Yeehaawww... Anyway, I've been eating Chow Fan (fried rice) for the past 3 weeks, excluding first week. I love the chow fan! I always order chow fan, 2 nuggets and sometimes 1 chicken cutlet from this Mum's Stall, as they called it. The aunty and uncle recognized me already. I'm their regular customer apart from the kids. The kids looked alike anyway. They probably meet at least 100 kids per day. Haha.. Anyway, the aunty recognize me already. So whenever I show up, she quickly get my chow fan ready! I'm just there to pick and choose side dish. Today, there's Ngo Hiang (that pork thing which is really good) so I choose that on top of my 1 nugget. I didn't really know how much it is. But my most expensive meal was $2.10. So I thought I have only chow fan and 2 side dish. I gave her $2. I think I underpaid because she paused for a moment, but she didn't say anything. So I thought it's fine. I can't speak Chinese that fluent anyway, make it hard for me to ask her stuff. When I was taking my cutlery, she add on another chicken drumstick to my plate. I'm like "????". Then she smiled. So I went off saying "thank you aunty. Xie Xie nin!!" SO HAPPY!!! I'M SO BLESSED EVEN THOUGH IT'S JUST ONE CHICKEN!!!!! =P

My favorite drink in school is mineral water! Always bought it from the drink stall on the second level canteen. I just asked for mineral water and the aunty just said "you want it cold?" I nodded and gave my 50 cents. I refilled my water often from the cooler in the staff lounge. I love MILO too. LOVE IT! I only take that when I need to have snack in the mid of my PM session.

I love everything about the school except the stairs! I tell you, the school is HUGE, but then, there are stairs everywhere! Worst, the stairs doesn't connect one block to another. It does, but some doesn't! It's really frustrating sometimes when it's raining or when I'm late for class. I have take the LONG way to get to the class. Geez... The whole architecture is quite funny. Really funny. Oh gosh, as long as I have my own cubicle to relax and surf the net, I'm ENJOYING myself! Back to work.....

Countdown to END of practicum = 2 days

    HAPPINESS!

PS: Anybody wanna go with me to SINGFEST 08 to catch Alicia Keys, One Republic, Jason Mraz et al on the second day? (Aug 3, 2008) -- TAG me.
